Nanda Kannada Movie
Nanda can be slotted as a weak action film which just ends up as an old wine in a old bottle. The film scripted and directed by Anantha Raju does not have any credence in the form of a story line or any logical narration. Leave alone lead actors like Shivaraj Kumar and Sandhya, the director has simply wasted a battery of talented artists and technicians. The film suffers because of many negative factors including a weak plot.
The quality of Nanda is so bad that it raises doubts about the way Hatrick Hero Shivaraj Kumar is choosing his films. Neither the story has anything to cheer about or the narration of the director. Anantha Raju who had worked as an associate director till recently seems to be incompetent in handling an action subject. And just because a few gangster films of the actor have succeeded in the Box office, Anantha Raju has scripted his film which includes a number of fight sequences.
Without any fresh elements, Nanda fails to generate any interest. The narration is filled with dragging elements, weak dialogues and unimaginative handling. Anantha Raju who had earlier directed a film like Masth Maja Maadi has made a mess of his work in Nanda. MMM is the remake of Hindi Hit Dhamaal and Anantha Raju had faithfully followed the original. But in Nanda, his imagination has gone hay wire. Basing his screenplay on the story written by producer Mahim who has also played an important role in the film, Anantha Raju has shown his incapability to write a credible script.
The fight composer seems to have a field day in the making of the film. You have many number of fights where more than twenty villains are bashed by the hero. Different type of weapons are used for the fights. Blood and gore are part of these fights. In addition to these violent fight sequences, Nanda also has some comedy sequences which are made with a very poor taste. Perhaps this is one reason why the audience in the theatre are seen moving out of their seats very often in the song and fight sequences.
Nanda is the owner of a Canteen in a College. He is always refered to as Senior by the college students who seek his advise on all the things. Kavya is secretly in love with Nanda who helps his friend to marry her sister. Nanda gets into the wrong books of Kavya’s mother and her uncle who is the Police Commissioner. Nanda wants to marry Kavya despite the resistance of the Police Commissioner. He lands up in Jail on a foisted case. Then he is also used as a pawn by two rival Muslim gangs. Finally Nanda wins his battle by becoming a gangster himself.
Such stories have been seen many times in the Kannada screen and Raju has not infused any fresh elements in the story.
Shivaraj Kumar looks good only in the fight sequences and a song picturised in Bangkok. Sandhya who makes a debut through this film has got a weak role which offers her nothing to showcase her talents. Even veteran artists like Avinash, Shobharaj, Rangayana Raghu, Sharath Lohithashwa, Bhavya and Vanitha Vasu have not been properly used in the film.
Veteran music director V.Manohar’s composition is just average. He has always been inconsistent in his work so far.
Nanda does not offer anything new. It is just a below average fare.

Dheemaku Kannada Movie
Director:Magesh Kumar
Producer: Pushpa Sreenivasa Murthy
Cast: Naveen Krishna, Bhavani, Mayuri Sai, Rangayana Raghu, Sudha Belawadi,Sundar Raj
Music: Arun
Movie Review
Dheemaaku means arrogance. The film deals with the arrogance of a rich and influential woman who creates all problems in the love life of her daughter.
Naveen Krishna, son of veteran actor Sreenivasa Murthy, forays as a full-fledged hero with the movie, which is being produced by his mother Pushpa Sreenivasa Murthy.
Though Naveen showcases his acting skills in the film, it suffers because of an unconvincing script and poor direction.
Naveen's much expected big launch comes a cropper because of director Magesh Kumar's weak handling of the script. It is unfortunate that Naveen is launched with this inconsequential film.
It seems that Kumar tries to present Naveen as a substitute to Rajnikant or Chiranjeevi, but fails in his endeavour. The director tries to make the film pacy by using his editing skills. He fails here too because of the faulty script.
Kumar creates more confusion by introducing too many characters. Some of these characters have been enacted by talented artistes like Jaggesh, Komal, Sharan and Bullet Prakash. But these characters lack depth and their gimmicks look incoherent.
There are too many twists and turns in the story and it works against the film. Many logical questions remain unanswered.
The first half of the film is full of antics of Balamurali Krishna (Naveen) who tries to please Priya (Pavani), the daughter of a rich woman. When Krishna and Priya decide to marry, the resistance comes from Priya's mother. And then the confrontation starts.
In the end, Krishna convinces Priya's mother.
Arjun's music is one of the highlight of the film. "Huchcha annu bejaaraagalla" will please youngsters. Shankar Billemane's dialogues are appealing. Vinod Bharathi's camera work is impressive.
Naveen gives a good performance and he looks convincing in the role of a young lover. But Pavani can't match up with him.
A good performance also comes from Flora Saini, who plays Pavani's mother. Rangayana Raghu, Sudha Belawadi and Sundar Raj have played their roles with ease.
Vinod Bharathi's camera work is also good.
But despite all this and a good technical back up, "Dheemaaku" ends up as ordinary fare because of a weak script and poor directorial work.

Slum Bala Kannada Movie
Slum Bala Cast and Crew:
Release Date: 7th Nov 2008
Producer: Syed Amaaan, and M.S.Ravindra
Director: Sumana Kittur
Starring: Vijay and Shuba Punja.
Music: Arjun
Story/Screenplay: Agni Shridhar
Slum Bala Movie Review
The title has a slum in it; the story is based on a slum, the major character of this film hails from slum. But when it comes to execution, debutant director Sumana Kittur’s Slum Bala oozes with unmistakable class. Slum Bala is without doubt one of the finest films on the underworld in the Kannada film industry.
It’s funny when you come to think of it. Here is a woman director, a debutant at that, making one of the finest films on underworld which is totally the area of ‘men.’ Other directors who are churning out the underworld films like mega serials can easily a take a leaf out of Sumana’s book (or the whole book instead!). Her restrained handling of subject and her approach towards the narration is amazingly restrained. So restrained that minus Vijay’s character, the film could well have been a documentary on the nexus between the Bangalore police and the politicians.
Interestingly, it’s this same lack of melodrama that provides the film with a touch of authenticity. Backed by solid screenplay by Agni Shridhar, Sumana narrates the story of a small time slum rowdy, who is expatriated from Bangalore. The rowdy works as a bouncer in a dance bar in Mumbai and falls in love with Mallige (Shubha Punja), a dancer in the bar. But the police chief of Bangalore (Shashikumar) calls him back to Bangalore to assassinate Cable Manja (Dharmendra).
As you can see, the story has nothing special about it. We have seen countless such stories before. But it’s the handling of the story that deserves a special mention. In its entire narration, the narration rarely goes overboard and stays within its limits to make you believe in the story.
Those who are used to the melodramatic narration of the underworld subject in Kannada may find the story too slow in pace. Much of the film is all about political games and counter games that might disappoint those who expect at least 10-15 dead bodies in the first three reels of the film. Also, the film seems to be inspired from Satya and Company in many places.
Vijay looks every bit of the character he is playing. His dark complexion and muscular body are just what the doctor ordered for this role. He is one of those rare guys in Kannada who can change from a helpless simpleton to a dangerous killer in matter of seconds and make it look completely believable. Shubha Punja is as cute as ever and there is a marked improvement in her acting from Moggina manassu days. Umashri is lively and other supporting cast is good too.
Shashikumar, who was bound to play hapless elder brother in recent times, has got a powerful role and has made full use of it.
Slum Bala does have its faults. But those are negligible considering the refreshing approach it has taken towards narrating the story.

The protest organised by Hasiru Usiru coincided with a visit to the Lakshman Rao boulevard by Mr. Sivasailam, IAS, MD of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., which was facilitated by Mr. Vijaykumar, MLA (Jayanagar). In a significant decision, Justice Shri. N. Kumar and Justice Shri. Keshav Narayan constituting the Division Bench (in Vacation Sitting) of the Karnataka High Court directed Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. to stop felling of trees in Lalbagh and R. V. To know more about it visit http://www.hasiruusiru.org
The proposition is that, METRO is better going underground, rather than cutting down those trees and spoiling the beauty !
I can think how bangalore was when i was small. It used to be called Garden City but now due to cutting of Trees its no more. Lets all together join hands and stop the cutting of Trees in and around albagh, Nanda Road for the METRO project and Let METRO go UNDERGROUND.
Here is a VIDEO made by Ricky Kej and Team, in reply to the decision for cutting TREES in and around lalbagh, Nanda Road for the METRO project.
Come People of Bangalore lets join together and support and save trees.

'Psycho' - a unique thought
Without curiosity and breath taking moments on the screen the audience will not come to the theatre strongly believes the debutant 'Psycho' Kannada film director Devadatta. With new team and new frame work he has mounted the film at JSS auditorium on Akshaya Truthiya day in Bangalore. Gurudutt is the producer, Raghu Dixit is the music director and Sandeepkumar is the man behind camera. The cast of the film is not available as the director wants to keep a tight secret till the film come on the screen.
Hachchuvevu Kannadadha Deepa was performed by veteran theatre personality cum Journalist A.S.Murthy, veteran journalist PG Srinivasamurthy, distributor Mars Suresh, PLN Sastry and different Danny. For the maiden shot Ramanna switched on the camera that was placed on Sri Raja Rajeswari goddess. T.Venkatramana Shetty showed the clap board. At the time of muhurut shot the song of 'Psycho' – Preethiya Mana Shanthiya Siri Honnina Nadidhu Namma Nadu Karunaadu….was played. The technicians of the film were seen on the stage.
The shooting begins from May 18. This was the auspicious day and it was inevitable for us to start the film said Devadatta. He refused to divulge anything on the subject. 250 years old house is selected for the shooting is the house of the hero. There will no mobile cameras on the sets. On the hike of production cost he said 'Tomato' price is also fluctuating so there is no surprise if the production cost increases. For Devadatta cinema making is not gambling but business.

Raghu Dixit has retuned the Radio City song Namma Nadu….along with six other songs. The second stanza for the song Preetiya Mana shanthiya Siri Honnina Nadidhu Namma Naadu…..is written by Jayanth Kaikini. Looking at the Karnataka map Jayanth Kaikini had written the song said Devadatta. Kadalina Male Madilina……is the opening line of Jayanth Kaikini's second stanza for the key song of the film that is very penetrative informed Devadatta. This song focuses on the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka comes on the screen for 320 seconds.
Please do not discuss in the media the hero, heroine and other cast of the film says producer R.Gurudutt. This is not a gimmick we are doing but a requirement to keep the curiosity till the audience comes to the theatre he said.
